And I thought it'll be in YOungblood

I am an avid reader of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and am especially keen on their Youngblood section. That is why when a friend gets published, I am one of the first to know. I have always wanted to contribute but have not really had the guts to do so. But I always thought one day I will....

And so I thought it'll be with Youngblood that I will receive my first check for a writing. But I was wrong. I got my 3 checks yesterday for the work I did for this school I am presently writing for on a freelance basis (a.k.a. jobless).

As I line up for the checks in the disbursement window of the university, I thought... this is my first experience of getting paid for something I write , sans a writing contest I joined before where I won 12K. I was excited and totally freaked. Somehow, I was hoping the checks with make me feel like a legit writer of sorts... and it did. I realized how little value the physical checks would mean. They looked like plain paper to me but it sends an electrifying sensation up my spine. I am more than happy... but i could not find a better term to describe it.

Well... enjoy it while it lasts.
