I live a charmed life! I guess it did not start that way... but happiness is never a circumstance. It's a choice. I have to repeat, it's a choice. Not many people in my life know my little challenges and my big baggages. But what's the point of hanging on to those baggages when living a life free from them is so much better?
I always believed that simplicity is a prerequisite to happiness. The more complicated our desires are, the more complicated our lives become. And if we live a complicated life, the more evasive happiness is to us. Simplicity does not only pertain to our desire over things. Although it is definitely included. But moreover, simplicity should be applied to the way we see situations in our lives, our reactions to the people we meet, our expectations. How much simpler our life would be if we learn to accept things as they are instead of wanting more and worse, comparing what we have with what others have.
Regret is a termite that deters us from building our dreams. I for one is soooo guilty of this! But slowly, i have come to accept that there is only so much we can do in life and that our today is the stage where our actions would still matter.
Worry works much the same way as regret. It is a state of always being ahead of ourselves and wish we could finish tomorrow even before we could deal with our today.
As i said from the start... live in the moment.
That is what zen thinking has reintroduced in this generation. To live now, where it matters. It does not matter what stage we are in or in where we begin. It all depends on packing our today in an air tight package free from the regrets of yesterday and the worry of the future.
Happiness. The irony of it all is that i also believe that happiness will not be fully actualized in this world. In our present state. Our bodies will always weigh us down and lead us unto searching things, people and circumstances that will entice us with fullness but leaves us empty.
The fullness of life is YET TO COME to us. Whatever we do today is part of the journey TO IT.
For me, happiness is a choice to focus on achieving this and all else becomes and irrelevant excuse to complicate our lives and veer us away from COMING HOME.
