Was it just coincidence that I read about farming twice in a row in a day. Both I think could shed some light in our present situation as a country.
I first read about farming in today's Gospel. Next, in Stephen Covey's book on time management First Things FIrst.
One spoke about patience. One spoke about acting on things that are essential.
But both made me think that indeed, the solution to this crises does not lie on the resignation of our president.
I believe we deserve a GMA up there. We deserve her because we allowed her to be the president. I voted for her. Because there was no other better candidate. I guess, if she did win the election fairly, it was only for that reason. If she did cheat, it was because we allowed her to cheat. Then again, we still deserve her.
But in a nation filled with bitter politicians, half-awake citizenry and "what if?" paradigms, we are yet to see the fulfillment of what we are looking for in our country.
So, what lessons can we get out of the two concepts I just mentioned?
From the Gospel, I gathered the crucial component of this issue is not GMA. We ALREADY placed her in office, rightfully or not. Can't we just apply the rule used in most games saying "referees decision is final"? Why? Because we are rocking the boat and we are not any better for it. We disturb the peace and we allow ourselves to be used by the sectors of society that wants everything else except the status quo. When will they stop? Did you ever wonder what they really want? They want heaven for goodness sake! And when will they find it? Never. Because we, our country are always a work in progress.
We always think we're being had. Someone's always taking advantage of us. But in the natural law, this could never happen. The person, the group, whatever that tries to take advantage of others will always eventually have to pay. We cry justice. At what expense? You tell me.
The law of the farm that Stephen Covey was saying is yet another approach that validates the first. We cannot force on the field. We have to plant, we have to wait, then we can harvest. Nothing is urgent in the field. And as the Gospel already told us, not even the pulling out of the weeds.
People in the opposition has been there since time in memorial. They were never on the Right. They EXPECTED things to IMMEDIATELY be ok since Cory's time. It's like expecting that twenty years of chocolate chip cookie and milk diet would be sweat out in one aerobics session. And what? Because they could not get it during Cory's time, they remained critical, disturbing every government then after. Never finding time to present solutions and helping out. As it is, really "inip na inip na sila". In the meantime, what are they planting? The bad seed. They are the weeds that are always alongside the wheat.
We are the critical factor here. When will the citizenry realize that there is no perfect government. That we are the government. They rub us and they rape the economy? We in turn shoo these robbers away only to forget their case and join their sons and daughters in the next rally in Ayala. What justice are you people talking about? You are in fact talking about the new hype. Not the new hope.
Where does hope lie? In each and everyone of us. Let us support each other. Not even the greatest of robbers can empty us up if only we work together.
If only we are mature enough to accept we placed in office the wrong president and move on working towards not making the same mistake over again.
