Walking in the Rain

I was walking in the rain this morning...bouyant with the joy of knowing I am not doing it to hide any tears. Instead, there is a spring in my steps and a freedom in my heart like a child freely frolicking in the freshness around. Then it reminded me, that my life in Singapore is mostly like that. A stroll where no one is looking. A nap taken too long and no one would mind. A bad hair day that no one notices and an ignorance completely excused.

In the house, it seems like we are playing "bahay-bahayan". In school, (when I was still in school) I need not study unless really necessary - which was twice in my 6 months course. At work, everyone assumes that I do not know exactly how things should work and so my success (whew!) were applauded and my boboos ignored. On holidays like today, I need not do anything. This morning, I reheat the pizza, poured instant Milo on a cup and there it is, my breakfast.

I know, I know, I am 32 and I should not be living like this...but don't you wish you could? I mean, live your life as carefree as you would walking in the rain?

Ahhhhhcchhhhoooooo!
