i am spending this moment with a good friend of mine Cristy. We are both in the office with really not much to do. Isnt this the best time to be in the office? We are both just whiling away the time till our lives find direction. Me to confirm an appointment and her... to get fetched by her darling honey. She is also now with her sweet lovely little girl, Kyra.
i wish most times are just like this. but yes, it could get a bit boring. speaking of boring, i heard from somewhere that the term boring came about towards the end of the 19th century. Before that, there is no such thing as boring.
Boredom- a period of inactivity, sadness, coldness, repetition, monotony.
Before machines were invented, even the most monotonous stuffs we now delegate to the photocopying machine, computer and similar stuffs were done by humans. SO where did boredom spring anyway?
No wonder this book PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE became such a hit.
we are just soooo loooking for one that sometimes, we miss the whole point.
there are a lot of gems to pick up in the book. i do not believe it is the end all though. but he hits the nail right on the head when he started the book saying our life's purpose is NOT about us.
No it is not.
It may benefit us. Yes. But it is not about us - alone.
Purpose - the "why?" of life. the compass. the direction.
Anna was just telling me earlier that their trainor in the SMTC program she is now undergoing puts extra value in what he is doing. He erases the board with a special meaning for him. He believes that every little thing he does, be it a lecture, time listening to the trainees or eating out with them is of significance to how the BIG ROCK project will be in the future.
Everything we do, be it idle time or super busy time, is indeed of significance. It is in these moments that building blocks of our future, our reputation, our being, our soul is being built. In what moment should boredom creep in then?
Our purpose is not about us. It is about God's will for us. For me, it is to use the gift of life to make sure what matters to Him is done through you and that we return HOME to Him.
Going back to Kyra. She's been here in the office for the past six hours. Almost a whole working day for some. But she does not look bored at all. Bless her. She came here to spend time with her mom. Maybe she knows more about purpose than most...
