A Life Planner's Prayer

Thank you Lord for this surprising gift
A way to make a difference.

Thank you Lord for the small successes and the many failures
It made me realize I am nothing without you.

Thank you Lord for the meetings that pushes through
I am reminded that I am always first a stranger until someone opens their door to me.

Thank you Lord for the smile or the frown that greets me when I come
It reminds me how I am with people.

Thank you Lord for the stories that are shared
It reminds me that life is fair.

Thank you Lord for the opportunity to listen,
It reminds me that there is so much to learn.

Thank you Lord for allowing me to speak to people
It reminds me that I always have something to share.

Thank you Lord for what I give my clients
It reminds me that difficult decisions SHOULD be made.

Thank you Lord for my clients
They remind me that still, love rules the world.

And at the end of the day,Thank you Lord for my sore feet
They remind me of the many roads that led me to a new friend.

Through my work, help me remind people i meet a few things as well...

That they are important, that they matter.

That they have a chance to live with peace of mind and to leave this life with dignity.

That for every pleasure they willingly forego, their sacrifices allow them to be good stewards of the lives entrusted to them.

That a family somewhere else lives because of them.

That life is short... that time is never enough to show love.

When in the end oh Lord i am a Life Planner no more, keep with me the warm memories of faces, trials, joys, stories and moments that made life worthwhile.

But for today Oh Lord, all I ask is for your charity to urge me on. Amen.
